The letter is in Polish, the deadline is running, and your accountant does not answer or you never had one. Do not put it off: most letters have short deadlines counted from the date of delivery. The most common letters
- Wezwanie from the tax office: explain a discrepancy, send documents or file a correction of a return or JPK (czynności sprawdzające).
- Upomnienie: a reminder of unpaid tax with a demand to pay, usually within 7 days.
- A ZUS letter about contribution arrears, an incorrect DRA or the right to a relief.
- Zawiadomienie o kontroli: notice of an upcoming tax inspection.
- Decyzja: a decision in the case, usually with 14 days to appeal.
Deadlines and delivery
The deadline is in the letter and runs from the date of delivery. A paper letter you did not collect from the post office is treated as delivered 14 days after the first notice (awizo). Messages in e-Urząd Skarbowy, PUE ZUS and e-Doręczenia also need to be opened on time, see e-Doręczenia for a JDG.
What we do
- We read the letter and explain in English what it says and the deadline.
- We check your books, returns, JPK files and balances with the tax office and ZUS.
- We prepare the reply, corrections of returns and JPK, and czynny żal where it applies.
- We reply to the office and ZUS under a power of attorney (UPL-1, PEL) and keep your books so that such letters do not come back.
What we do not do
We do not represent you in court or handle tax disputes: that is work for a lawyer or a doradca podatkowy. If the letter is at that level, we will tell you straight away.
How much it costs
We quote once we have seen the letter and the state of your books. If several months of bookkeeping need to be rebuilt, the process is on bookkeeping recovery.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if I ignore a wezwanie?
The office can fine you for not appearing or not providing documents and decide the case on the data it has. It is better to reply on time, even if you need more time.
Can I ask for more time?
Yes, you can ask in writing for an extension before the deadline, giving the reason. The office decides.
The letter is for my company and my old accountant is gone. What now?
You can switch to us at any time: we take over documents and powers of attorney, see switching accountant.
